On behalf of institutional clients, Colonnade BridgePort is proud to have received globally recognized ENERGY STAR® certification at six properties for exceptional energy performance.
Specific to buildings, ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® accounts for variables such as weather, building size, number of occupants, building type, parking lot size, etc., to score buildings from 1 – 100, with 50 being an ‘average’ performing building.
Colonnade BridgePort managed buildings scored between 75 and 94, putting them in the top quartile of buildings in Canada for energy performance.
ENERGY STAR certified buildings, on average, use 35% less energy and emit 35% less greenhouse gas than similar buildings nationwide, leading to operational cost reductions. ENERGY STAR certification also positions buildings to respond to other benchmarking and performance mandates.
“Congratulations to our property teams who facilitated the certification process and to our progressive owners for their ongoing commitment to planetary health,” said Lynn Heaston, Director, Commercial Property Management
The six certified properties were the first set chosen by Colonnade BridgePort in late 2023 to go through the ENERGY STAR certification process. The company currently has an additional 84 of its managed properties in the ENERGY STAR program and expects to increase certification numbers in 2024.
